Each capsule provides 334mg of red yeast rice extract (this in turn provides 10mg of Monacolin K) and 30mg of Coenzyme Q10. Red yeast rice has been eaten in China for centuries, and is made by fermenting rice with the yeast Monascus purpureus, and at the end of the fermentation process the yeast is rendered inactive. It is known to contain compounds called monacolins, which are believed to obstruct cholesterol synthesis. CoQ10 is included as it is a powerful antioxidant. It may help to support the cardiovascular system by helping to improve the function of the heart muscles. The BioMedical Cardio-K is a one-a-day supplement.
